Resources for Massage Therapists

Here's a list of great resources that I have found helpful in my practice! Please let me know of any I may have missed, as I'm always looking for more inspiration.

Massage Organizations

Membership in Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals offers liability insurance, free CEUs, Massage & Bodywork magazinethe ABMP Podcast (including Ruth Werner's "I Have a Client Who..." episodes), Five-Minute Muscles and Pocket Pathology App and much more.

Membership with the American Massage Therapy Association provides liability insurance, CEUs, Massage Therapy Journal, career resources, client education materials, discounts, and more.  The AMTA also hosts a yearly conference as well individual state conferences throughout the US.  

The National Certification Board of Massage Therapy and Bodywork provides a Board Certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (BCTMB®).  While not necessary to obtain to work in any state, Board Certification demonstrates your advanced assessment and critical thinking abilities; and provides credibility to current and prospective clients and employers.  The NCBTMB also certifies Massage Therapy schools & CEU providers so that schools & CEU credits meet the standards required for most states.

The California Massage Therapy Council's mission is to protect the public by certifying massage professionals in California that meet the requirements in the law and approving massage programs that meet the minimum standards for training and curriculum.

The Massage Therapy Foundation is dedicated to advance the science and art of massage therapy through education about the benefits of massage; to promote the development of knowledge, scientific advancements & community service in the massage therapy field; and to secure and provide funding for research, education, and charitable community outreach initiatives.
